The SKLRD makes a significant progress in the research of Ebola anti-bodies
2016-05-21696Recently, the State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease co-established by Guangzhou Medical University and Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health of Chinese Academy of Sciences has worked closely with Tsinghua University and other organizations to apply technologies such as single cell cloning to extract from the body of macaques the first case of effective monoclonal neutralizing anti-body against Ebola virus infection in China. The research paper was published online by “Scientific Reports” under the British journal Nature on May 16, 2016, with a title of Potent neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against Ebola virus infection. Professor Zhang Linqi of Tsinghua University, research fellow Chen Ling of the Laboratory and Professor Qiu Xiangguo of Public Health Agency of Canada are the corresponding authors of the paper. Dr. Zhang Qi of Qinghua University, doctoral candidate Gui Miao of Tsinghua University and Dr. Niu Xuefeng of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University are the first authors of the paper.
At present, the research team carries out the research on the second generation of anti-Ebola monoclonal anti-body and hunting for monoclonal anti-bodies and combination with a stronger neutralizing capacity, wide spectrum and protective effect through locating gene mutation and identifying the structure and functions. They aim to make greater efforts for the research and to optimize preventive and curative anti-bodies effects against Ebola and safeguarding the national security and people’s health.
