2017-10-20876Recently, the allergic reaction disease innovation and research team led by Professor Li Jing of the State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease, Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health and the allergic reaction department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University made an important progress in the research on the influence of urban and rural environment on the allergic disease. Their research finding “Cockroach is a major cross-reactive allergen source in shrimp-sensitized rural children in southern China” was officially accepted by Allergy, a renowned journal in the field of allergic reaction science (IF=7.361). Professor Li Jing and Professor Gary W.K. with the department of pediatrics of Chinese University of Hong Kong were the corresponding authors, and Dr. Yang Chaowei, Zhao Jiefeng and Wei Nili were the first authors.
The guiding significance of this research is the discovery to clinical practice was that the positive allergen of shrimps in rural children cannot fully indicate that the allergy of the kid was caused by shrimps. Possible cause may also include cross allergy with cockroach, which has laid a foundation for further exploration of the relationship between exposure to cockroach allergen in rural areas and the incidence of allergic disease.
